Introducing DotA 2

Gamers will never ask a question of what is DotA 2. Why? Because everybody knows DotA.

But for those new at gaming, or specifically ARTS (Action Real-Time Strategy) or MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) gaming, the term DotA might not be that familiar.

DotA 2 is a sequel or upgraded version of DotA.

I'll just discuss a brief history of DotA. I won't mention dates since nobody is interested in it. (Good Guy Author :P)

DotA was a map/mod originally created and developed by Eul for Warcraft III: Rain of Chaos until the release of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, Eul made the map open source before shutting down the development.

Many variants spawn days and weeks after Eul stopped developing, the most popular variant was DotA All-Stars developed by Ginsoo which made most of the core systems of DotA like item crafting and added more heroes to the roster. 6.01 was the last map version Ginsoo created.

Then came IceFrog, who took over the development short after Ginsoo's abandonment. While not as fast paced as Ginsoo, IceFrog is know for Bug Fixes, Balances, and some tweaks. IceFrog is still developing for DotA until now.

At the present, DotA and DotA 2 are still both being developed. Valve announced development with the Aid of IceFrog himself and has since gone to beta until now.

DotA 2 has become huge and becoming the most played game on Steam considering it is till on beta.

I can only estimate that players of DotA will only escalate more and become a worldwide hit on its release since Valve has announce it will be F2P (Free to Play).
